Where Workiz wins
- The phone system. Built-in calling, call recording and dispatch built around calls. That's a real edge when the phone ringing is your pipeline. We tip our hat. It's the best-built part of their product.
- Real automations. A working automation layer, capped by tier. These aren't just reminders dressed up as workflows.
- Lead capture tools. Their lead features make a real effort to catch new leads. Several competitors skip that part entirely.
- Dispatch for high call volume. If you run lots of short jobs a day, the dispatch model fits.
Is your business high-volume service work that runs on calls? Then Workiz has earned a spot on your shortlist.
Why a coating shop ends up looking
We read the vendor's own published materials on 2026-07-26. Here's what stood out.
Inventory is top-tier only
The materials module sat on the highest plan. For a coating business, inventory isn't an extra you add once you're big. Resin and flake are your second biggest cost after labor. And paying up doesn't fix the other half, because we found no job-level margin at any tier.
No real job costing found
We couldn't confirm margin per job. On short service calls, you can live without it. On a two-day install that burns through a pallet of material, it's the number you most need.
"Performance pay" isn't a performance scoreboard
These two are worth pulling apart. The words are close, but the tools aren't. Performance pay works out what someone earns. Crew performance tracking measures revenue per hour, gross profit per hour, labor cost percent, attendance and callback rate per person. Then it puts those on a board the crew can see. One is payroll math. The other is how you find out who's carrying the crew.
Demo-gated pricing
You have to book a call to learn the number. That's a fair way to sell. It also eats your afternoon. If you do take the call, ask this in the first five minutes: which tier includes inventory, and what does that tier cost?
"Not found" means we couldn't confirm it in our July 2026 review. It doesn't prove the feature is missing. Check current features with Workiz. If something has shipped since, you want to know.

We checked the Workiz rows against the vendor's own published materials on 2026-07-26. We don't show competitor prices here. They change often, and a stale number is worse than none.
The last row goes our way. Our prices sit on the pricing page where you can read them tonight. Theirs are behind a demo. Two plans, flat monthly, and unlimited users on both, so adding installer six never changes the bill.

- Jobber is better known, with excellent scheduling and invoicing. We found no inventory, job costing sits a tier up, and it's priced per seat. Full read →
- Housecall Pro has the best homeowner booking and marketing. We found no inventory, and it tracks cost at the call level. Full read →
- ServiceTitan covers inventory, costing and crew KPIs. You pay enterprise prices, per tech, with a contract. Full read →
- Service Fusion offers unlimited users. Inventory and costing sat on a higher plan, and we found no crew tracking.
- ServiceM8 gives you unlimited users and real job costing on the upper tier. We found no inventory, and it bills by jobs per month.
- CoatHQ is ours. It's built for coating, with unlimited users on both plans. Inventory, job costing and the crew board are on Pro. It's narrow by design. And it's weaker than Workiz on the phone system.
When Workiz is the better choice
Here's when we'd tell you to stay.
- You run more than one trade. We do coating and concrete. Nothing else.
- You're running a call center. Several dispatchers, hundreds of short jobs a week, calls at the center of the day. Their phone layer is deeper than ours and we won't pretend otherwise.
A busy phone on its own isn't that. If you coat floors and it rings all day, what you want is every call tracked to the ad that made it ring, then the floor costed after. That's our side of the line.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Workiz alternative?
Did you pick Workiz for the phone system? Few alternatives match it there. Leaving because inventory is top tier and job margin is missing? Then check two things on every tool you look at. Does it do real job costing at all? And which plan does that sit on?
Does Workiz have job costing?
We reviewed the vendor's published materials on 2026-07-26. We found no real job costing or margin per job. Inventory showed up on the top tier only. Check current features with Workiz.
Why is Workiz pricing hard to find?
It's been behind a demo. You book a call to learn the number. If you take the call, ask early which tier includes inventory and what that tier costs.
Is performance pay the same as crew performance tracking?
No. Performance pay works out what someone earns. Crew performance tracking measures revenue per hour, gross profit per hour, labor cost percent, attendance and callbacks per person. It shows them on a board the crew can see.
Do you publish your price?
Yes. Two plans, flat monthly, with unlimited users on both. The figures sit on our pricing page, so you can read them tonight without booking anything.
